Release 1.0 is coming 15 January 2010

Hi everyone, simpleLinux is about to be released soon in 15 January , since many bugfixes are applied to the alpha version.

Dev status:
NETWORKING SUPPORT: A lot of bugfixes applied to both minimal and EXT version. It is now autocfg during the boot time. LAN connected automatically, no configurations needed. Use connection manager to install for modems. (Done 80%)

PORTABLE APPS: yet, still have some problems. Some application has missing dependencies. Download portable applications at SLAX.ORG and put it to slax/modules folder. (Done 25%)

SHUTDOWN_MANAGER: yet, we are stuck at how to fix the grayed shutdown and reboot button. Using old way, modifying the slax.cfg by adding a new line:

" APPEND initrd=/boot/initrd.gz ramdisk_size=6666 root=/dev/ram0 rw autoexec=xconf;startxfce4;poweroff changes=/slax/ " (Done 25%)

INSTALL TO HD: a lot of bugfixes applied to the simpleLinux-EXT. Copy these files to HD and open BOOTINST.BAT if you're on windows or BOOTINST.SH in a terminal if you're using Linux

DEB PACKAGES?: The only way to install deb package is by manually extracting to the root directory (DANGEROUS!!!) Search for DEB package installer at SLAX.ORG (Done 10%)

File Manager: Both minimal and EXT version has 2 different file manager which is XFCE file manager and Konqueror. Both are running fine with both minimal and EXT version (Done 99%)

Compiz Fusion?: Yeah, sure. It will work if it support Slax or Slackware. Download the modules and put it to slax/modules dir (KDE required, so minimal is out) (On Hold 10%)

KDE 4?: We'll think about it... We will try KDE 4 and maybe put it to simpleLinux-KDE4 on the next next next release. But, simpleLinux wont be simple anymore, is it right? (On Hold 0%)

Core and Modules: Compress the LZM package to make a single LZM package (Done 0%)
